Go back about three years ago and the only premium foldable drone was the DJI – Mavic Pro. There was nothing that could even come close to comparing to the Mavic in terms of features and foldability combined.

Fast forward three years to 2020 and there are hundreds of options when it comes to foldable drones but the majority of them lack the quality and reliability you would expect after shelling out a few hundred dollars for one. It’s difficult to know if you getting your money’ worth out of the deal with so many different options.

This is why I have created this list of the best foldable drones that are of high quality and reliability. Besides quality and reliability, all the drones on this list have great cameras, decent fly time, control and range. DJI Mavic 2 Pro

DJI Mavic 2 Pro

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is a true masterpiece and no other foldable drone comes close to competing with it at this price range.

Even when I try to think of any downfalls of this drone I can’t seem to find anything wrong with it other than the steep price tag but you pay for quality so I can’t say it’s unjustified.

The L1D-20c camera with a 20MP 1” CMOS Sensor on this drone captures the most beautiful footage whether it’s from afar or close up. The color detail which this camera captures is unlike any other drone on this list.

The Mavic 2 Pro is also the fastest drone on this list with top speeds of 44Mph (70km/h)

A 3-axis gimbal ensures smooth and steady video footage and crisp photos.

The Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing is an awesome new feature that DJI has coupled with the Mavic 2 Pro. What this does is detect obstacles in any direction, top, bottom, left, right, behind or in front of the drone!

You could fly this drone from through the front entrance of your house, do an MTV crib style tour and fly safely out the back door without colliding with anything inside.

A few of the main features include ActiveTrack 2.0, Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing, Hyperlapse, Low-Noise Design, Adjustable Aperture, HDR Photos

This king of foldable drones is obviously not cheap, top of the range is never cheap.

HUBSAN Zino

HUBSAN Zino

The HUBSAN Zino is pretty good value for money. 4K video capabilities at this price point is very impressive and is one of the biggest reasons this drone made the list. Not that it is lacking much in the other departments either though.

Besides the 4k camera, the HUBSAN Zino is equipped with Panorama options, line flight, image tracking, 3-axis camera and auto return to home functionality. These are some of the features that make it so exceptional. It also has other fantastic GPS features, two fail-safes and a 23 minute flight time.

It’s an excellent option for those who want the best camera quality at this price range.

The HUBSAN Zino was a close competitor in its price range compared to the previous foldable drone on this list. The reason why the DJI – Mavic Mini is slightly better than the HUBSAN is the speed and flight time.

Ruko F11 Pro Foldable Drone

Ruko F11 Pro Foldable Drone

The Ruko F11 Pro is another premium budget foldable drone that certainly delivers on features and performance.

Let’s dive into some of the main specifications.

The camera on this drone is capable of 4K photos and 2.9K video which is really impressive for a drone priced at around $300. It produces deep contrast and vivid colors and has a 120°FOV.

The flight time is also very impressive as it can run for up to 30 minutes with one full charge. There’s a bonus though, this drone comes with an extra battery included so once the first 30 minutes is done, return the drone to replace the battery and go for another 30 minutes!

Video transmission range is 300-500 meters and the max control range is 0.75 miles (1.2km) but the extra battery and better camera make the Ruko F11 more appealing than the previous two options in my opinion.

This premium budget drone falls into the price range of around $$$. For the exact price and stock availability right now you can check it out on Amazon.

Holy Stone HS720 Foldable Drone

Holy Stone HS720 Foldable Drone

The Holy Stone HS720 has some really impressive higher range features at a lower range price. 26 minutes of flight time and a 4K camera being a couple of the best. Let’s go into more detail.

The 4K UHD camera has image stabilization with a shock absorption holder to ensure smooth 4K camera shots without vibrations interfering. It also boasts a 5GHz FPV transmission and a 90° adjustable lens. Video Recording is in 2k, not too bad.

It also has GPS Assisted Intelligent Flight so you never lose your drone, it returns automatically when the battery is running low and also has a one-button return feature if you require. It has object-follow modes and waypoint path modes as well.

One of the most impressive features of this quality drone is the long battery life. You can get 26 minutes of flight time out of a full charge. This is partly due to the brushless motors which consume less power and have a longer operating life as well.

Multi Sensors guarantee to hover with great stability to get beautiful video footage and crisp photos as well. Optical Flow Positioning comes in handy when the GPS signal is lost or weak.

Functions, like one key start/stop, emergency stop, altitude hold, and electric fence, keep it simple to control even for beginners.

The control range of 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) is not bad and considering all the other great features, this all makes for a very well priced drone.

This foldable drone is fitted with a 2K Full HD 5G WiFi camera for high-speed image transmission to decrease delay during FPV. The camera is a 110° wide-angle and can adjust to 90° when it suits you.

It’s fitted with a one-axis gimbal to reduce vibration and for you to get the best video footage possible at an affordable price.

The Potensic D88 is a pretty reliable drone and certainly meets the quality standards to make it onto this list. Four 1350KV brushless motors allow the D88 to fly stably at high speeds with a max speed of 31 miles/h (50km/h) which is pretty darn fast for a drone at its price level.

It also has GPS intelligent return, one-button return, follow me mode, point of interest, altitude hold, ultrasonic altitude setting, optical flow positioning, orbit flight and remote control with LED screen.

The 3400mAh high capacity intelligent battery provides 16-20 minutes of flight time. Not that great but it makes it up for that with the other specs.

With the combination of flow positioning and ultrasonic altitude determination, this drone can hover precisely and stably. This is ideal for beginners that are still learning how to properly fly their drone.

Conclusion: Foldable Drones

With a wide range of premium quality foldable drones from as low as $300 all the way up to $1500, it really depends on your budget when deciding which one to go for.

Unless you need an exact specification like the ability to fly to a 4-mile range in which case all the foldable drones on this list, except for the last three, will do the job.

Maybe you just need a drone that can capture 4K video footage and you don’t need it to be long-range, then you could get the newest Hubsan Zino.

The decision on which foldable drone you should get will depend on what you need and how much you have to spend on it… Like most things in life I suppose.

What Is The Best Foldable Drone Under $300?

The best drones under $300 are the Potensic D88, Holy Stone HS720 or the Ruko F11 Pro. All of these are simply amazing for being that inexpensive with the range of features they all support.

I would go for the Ruko F11 if I had to pick one of the three.

What Is The Best Foldable Drone For The Money?

Of course, it depends on how much money you budgeting but I think I can say that both the DJI Mavic Mini and the Hubsan Zino are both really great foldable drones for the money.

These two drones are packed with really high range features like the 4K camera on the Hubsan or the speed and flight time of the Mavic Mini, both have a great control range of 2.5 miles (4 Km) each option has its strong point, it depends which you prefer.

What Is The Best Foldable Drone For Beginners?

If you are buying your first drone and you don’t want to spend too much not knowing how much you will really enjoy the experience then you could go for one of the bottom three drones on this list.

I know they are not dirt cheap but when it comes to good quality drones spending much less than $$ might not be giving the hobby a fair chance.

There is really such a huge difference in the experience of flying a cheapish drone compared to doubling up and going for something more premium like the Holy Stone, Potensic D88 or Ruko F11.

At least you should also get a good second-hand price for it if you don’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would have. With these drones though I don’t think you will be disappointed with the experience. The Ruko F11 Pro is also a pretty sweet machine for beginners to give the hobby a fair chance.

These foldable drones are about the best you going to get.
